Sophie Gough makes sculptural work that is influenced by an interest in material research and spatial exploration, often with an environmental consideration towards our built environment. She finds herself in a constant search to look beyond the mere surface of things, frequently seeking to disrupt the relationships we have with familiar entities.

Gough graduated from Limerick School of Art and Design, Ireland in 2016 with a first class honors BA in Sculpture and Combined Media. Since then she has exhibited Nationally and Internationally in Berlin, Reykjavik , New York, and Utrecht. She has completed residencies with the National Sculpture Factory Cork city, Uillinn, Skibbereen, County Cork and Dada Post, Berlin to name a few. She has interned with Ireland at Venice 2015 for the Venice Biennale, EVA: International 2016 and has just returned from New York where she worked for the world renown sculptor Michael Joo as a studio technician and assistant.

She now lives and works in Cork city where she actively continues her sculptural practice.
